We Just Launched a Free Chrome Extension — Here's Why
Most small business owners have no idea how their website actually performs. They paid someone to build it, it looks fine on their phone, and they assume everything is working. But under the hood? Missing meta descriptions, no structured data, broken Open Graph tags, images without alt text — the kind of invisible problems that quietly kill your search rankings and make your shared links look terrible on social media.
We see this every single week. A new client comes to us wondering why their site doesn't show up on Google, why their Facebook posts look plain when they share a link, or why leads just aren't coming through. And almost every time, the answer is buried in the basics.
So we built something to make those basics visible to everyone — not just developers.
Introducing SiteCheck by TechBuild.me
SiteCheck is a free Chrome extension that gives you a one-click website health audit on any page you visit. Click the icon, get a score out of 100, and see exactly what's working and what isn't.
No account. No signup. No data collection. Everything runs locally in your browser.
We built it because we believe every business owner should be able to see what's actually happening with their website without needing to hire someone or learn technical SEO.

What It Checks
SiteCheck audits five categories, each weighted by how much they affect your real-world visibility and performance.
SEO Essentials (30 points) covers the fundamentals that search engines need to understand and rank your page: title tag length, meta description, canonical URL, structured data (JSON-LD), language attribute, and content word count. These six checks alone catch the most common SEO mistakes we see on small business websites.
Mobile and Performance (20 points) verifies two non-negotiables. First, whether your page has a viewport meta tag so it renders correctly on phones. Second, whether you're serving over HTTPS. Both directly affect your Google ranking and your visitors' trust.
Page Structure (20 points) looks at your heading hierarchy — whether you have exactly one H1, whether you're using H2 sub-headings to organize content, whether you have a favicon, and whether your page is accidentally set to noindex (which would block it from appearing in search results entirely).
Images (15 points) checks alt text coverage across every image on the page. Missing alt text hurts accessibility for screen readers and costs you image search traffic. SiteCheck tells you exactly how many images are covered and how many are missing.
Social and Sharing (15 points) verifies your Open Graph tags (title, description, image, type) and Twitter card meta. These control how your page appears when someone shares a link on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, or any other platform. Without them, your links show up as plain text with no preview — and people scroll right past.

Why We Made It Free
This isn't a lead magnet with a paywall behind it. There's no "upgrade to see your full results" screen. Every check runs completely, every time, for free.
We made it free because it solves a real problem that shouldn't cost money to diagnose. If your website is missing a meta description, you should know about it — whether you're our client or not.
That said, if your score comes back at 40 and you want someone to fix it, we're right there in the footer. SiteCheck is built by TechBuild.me, and every website we build launches with a 99+ Lighthouse score and all five SiteCheck categories in the green. The extension is a genuine tool first and a conversation starter second.
How It Works Under the Hood
When you click the SiteCheck icon, the extension injects a small script into the page you're viewing. That script reads the DOM — the same HTML your browser already downloaded — and checks for the presence and quality of specific elements: meta tags, headings, images, links, schema markup, and security indicators.
Every check runs locally. Nothing is sent to our servers or any third party. The extension requests only the activeTab permission, meaning it can only see the page you're on at the moment you click. It has no background processes, no analytics, no cookies, and no tracking.
The score is honest by design. We didn't build it to make sites look good — we built it to surface problems. If your page is missing basics, you'll see red. If everything's solid, you'll see green. No ambiguity.

Who It's For
If you run a small business and you have a website, this is for you. You don't need to be technical. The checks are written in plain English, and every failed item explains why it matters and what to do about it.
It's also useful if you're evaluating a web developer's work. Had a site built recently? Run SiteCheck on it. If the score is below 70, the basics weren't covered — and those basics matter more than the visual design when it comes to actually generating leads and ranking in search.
Freelancers and marketers use it too. Quick audit of a client's current site before a proposal call. Competitive analysis on a rival's page. Checking whether the new blog post was published with the right meta tags. It takes two seconds and answers the question definitively.

What's Next
